My name is Megan Dupoise-Chandler, on Wednesday October 27th I receive the horrific phone call that no spouse wants to get, my husband John Chandler was being air lifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock medical center in critical condition.

John has suffered a major heart attack and fell 6 feet fracturing his spine. John’s amazing work crew performed CPR until he could be air lifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Despite constant CPR John was without adequate oxygen for almost 40 minutes. At this point he has 3 major issues, the life threatening cardiac event, a fractured spine and possible brain damage.

I will never forget being sat in that little Room being told “I’m sorry Mrs Chandler your husband has suffered a major heart attack and it’s bad, he has a 5% chance of survival.”

John had his first surgery at 4pm to place a stint in the main front artery of his heart, that surgery was to last an hour but took just over 2 1/2. To our horror John’s heart stopped beating again at 7pm, it took them 15 minutes to get him back, but he came back!!! At this point his life was hanging in the balance minute by minute. John against all the odds made it through the night! John didn’t become stable enough to move until Saturday when they were able to do a CT to check for brain activity, we are currently waiting on those test results. When John was brought back from CT he opened his yes and when I told him he was in the hospital and I was there, two tears fell before he succumbed to the sedation medication to keep him comfortable and not moving

as to not aggravate the spinal injury.

Right now everything is day by day

John and our little family have a very long road ahead of use. John does not have health insurance and the financial toll of this tragic situation is devastation for us from the mass amount of medical bills down to the gas it will take to get back and forth every day.
