Help Support Jennifer's Fight with Cancer
Donation protected
Our great friend and colleague, Jennifer Halpin, is fighting a battle that no mother should have to fight - her fight against cancer.
Jennifer is a selfless, wife, friend to all, but most importantly a mother of 13-year-old Joshua. She has been his support and rock just like she has been to every one of her colleagues at work and friends. She is a very caring and stable leader throughout her day, at work and home. She always puts herself last to help others in need first, most times sacrificing her own needs for those around her. She is Joshua’s soccer, basketball, and baseball mate, after schoolwork is done of course. She does all the play and practice activities and supports his teams by volunteering her time in each sport and as a board member on the baseball club. The battle she is now fighting is taking her from participating in those duties and taking her from all those that lean on her.
Starting around September of 2020, Jennifer had been complaining of severe headaches and pressure she could not describe. Doctors guessed at many conditions that could cause her symptoms. Medications and other forms of treatments were tried with no positive results. Over the next couple of months, Jennifer kept trucking along her daily activities, putting Joshua, home, and work before herself. Even with all the discomfort, sleepless nights, continued pain, she remained focused on everything and everyone that leaned on her.
In January 2021, Jennifer had yet another Ear, Nose and Throat doctor appointment for head pain and a swollen eye that has been getting progressively worse over the course of these months (originally thought to be allergies among other things). She told the Doctor about the previous treatments attempted that failed to help. She forced him to request a scan, which had been denied several times already. One week later the Doc called to tell her she was right in pushing for the scan as they found a large tumor growing in her sinus. An extremely rare type of large cell lymphoma that had already eroded bone to her eye and brain. Less than 200 cases per year are found. Doc agreed to get the ball rolling for her necessary treatment. He rushed to put together a dream team of three surgeons that was needed for a successful procedure. On January 21st the team had removed most of the tumor, leaving one minor area that was against her brain. Their plan is to eradicate that minor spot and two others found between her ribs, with very aggressive chemo treatments. Her painful, five-hour long treatments, started February 19th.
Jennifer is taking all of this like a strong brave mother, which not anyone who knows her is surprised. There are many more months and treatments ahead of her. After what most likely will be a year of treatments, when they have destroyed the cancerous cells, she will need to heal her body well because the second phase will then start. This type of cancer is certain to return, and the only way to prevent that is a bone marrow transplant.
We have started this Go Fund Me account to ease the burden she is suffering, Jennifer is the sole source of income for her home and the workhorse that keeps it all together. Over the next several months ahead, she will need to be at countless doctor appointments, hospital stays and treatments. As you can imagine the normal costs of everyday living...such as mortgage, food, gas, car, etc...The medical costs can be astronomical.
This will enable Jennifer to be able to concentrate on herself getting well and fighting this wicked disease called cancer. So many of us are relying on her to put herself first for once, and get back to life as before.
From the bottom of our hearts we humbly ask that you share this link with friends and family and if possible in giving (any amount will help).
We thank you for your support and God bless each and every one of you!!
