Help support Jennifer Bothwell and her family

On the morning of Tuesday October 15th, my mother suffered a sudden subarachnoid hemorrhage caused by a ruptured brain aneurysm. It was discovered after she had fallen dizzy and hit her head in our home. She had to be airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital from Victoria in order to be seen by a proper specialist and undergo immediate brain surgery. During the procedure, called endovascular coiling, she also suffered a minor stroke as a side-effect.
In spite of all this, my mother has endured. We have reason to be optimistic but she has a very long road ahead of her. This is a serious brain injury, possible symptoms and long term effects could range from speech deficits, weakness in her arms and legs, visual problems, seizures, fatigue, memory loss, lack of concentration, and personality changes.
My mom, like so many moms, is my greatest inspiration and an exemplar of human perseverance. She was born with a hemangioma (tumour) on the side of her head when she was a baby, which the removal of left her hard of hearing and impaired her vision. Despite all of this, she has never let it cast a shadow over her. She has always, and will always be a kind-hearted, patient and loving person. She has sacrificed and given so much to me, my sister, and everyone around her.
This has been a very difficult time for my family and I. We have had to put our lives on hold in order to be by her side in Vancouver.
We are asking for those that wish to donate in order to help us with upcoming bills, transitionary costs that come with her new condition (lawyers, accessibility, care, therapies), and to help us with the costs of being in Vancouver (lodging, food, ferry, transit, etc.).
Thank you if you have read this far. These past days and weeks have been a turning point in our lives, and I would like to give back and care for her the same way she has cared for us.
