On Tuesday, August 19, 2025, my son, Jay, fell in the shower and hit his head. Shortly after paramedics arrived, he stopped breathing. They were able to save him and transport him to the local trauma center in Des Moines. From there, he was flown to the University of Iowa Med Center, where the neurosurgeon closed an aneurysm in his head. The series of CT scans since show a couple "small strokes".

Jay returned home on Sept 5. Dr said he may be able to resume his normal life at the end of the month.

Since he is the only breadwinner in his immediate family of 3 (Jay,

Brandi, Ken), the income has stopped and now the bills are piling up, including a foreclosure threat from the mortgage holder, and local utilities are threatening to turn off the electricity any day now. Yes, it has only been a few days, but the threat is nonetheless real.
