On Monday, October 16th my brother Jaymison went to Immediate Care due to some numbness and discomfort in his legs, he was then transported to multiple Hospitals before ending up at Mercy Hospital. Days later they determined that there were multiple discs pushing in his neck and back causing spinal stenosis, narrowing of the spinal cord. The surgeons then determined he would need to undergo two major surgeries in order to save his spinal cord. Unfortunately, after the first surgery, he suffered an injury to his spinal cord that left him temporarily paralyzed from the neck down. He spent over 50 days at Mercy Hospital before he was transferred to the Monroe County rehabilitation facility where he has been working extremely hard everyday in order to regain his muscle functions and abilities. Unfortunately, this is a long and rigorous process. He still has not gained full function of his hands and arms. This spinal cord injury has also left him with no sensation throughout a large portion of his body. He is still unable to return to home or to work. Our family is so unbelievably thankful to still have him here with us today, and him still keeping such a positive attitude.
We are using this GoFundMe website to keep our family and friends updated in one place and to create a fund to offset some of the emormous medical bills he will face as well as home modifications necessary to transition and adapts to his new life. We are planning a benefit as well, however he is due to come home mid to late January and will need modifications to his home done by then. Our family appreciates the out pouring of prayers, positive affirmations and financial support for my brother Jay. Right now, our family's focus and full attention is on supporting and caring for Jay through all of this, so we will provide updates as frequent as possible using GoFundMe. Thank you for your love, support and continued prayers for Jay. Please share this with everyone you know to get the word out.
