Help Support Jason's Journey with Lyme
Courageous . Brave . Strong . Resilient .
That’s how you would describe my boyfriend, Jason, in his continued battle with Lyme Disease and it’s co-infections. For those of you who don’t know Jason (Jay), he began to experience symptoms after being bitten by multiple ticks back in 2018. Jay is a son, brother, father, boyfriend, firefighter, avid outdoorsman, and a friend to many. Over the past couple of years our world has been turned upside down as he battles through a number of life changing ailments.
Body weakening sensations (tingling, twitching, burning), chills/sweats, difficulty breathing, chronic fatigue making some days extremely hard to get out of bed, debilitating joint pain causing any movement to send sharp pain, and a number of neurological symptoms including brain fog, insomnia, constant headaches, and visual disturbances. These few symptoms only touch the surface of what is going on daily for Jay.
In effort to understand his symptoms for the next 2 1/2 years, Jay would undergo:
1. Multiple trips to hospitals, and numerous appointments with Doctors, Specialists and Neurologists - all of which have been unable to pin point his condition
2. Numerous MRI’s, CT scans, EMG’s, EKG’s, questionnaires, and many many viles of blood taken .
3. As well as extensive research to try and understand what support even exists in Canada that is affordable.
Due to the limited testing capacity in Canada, we made the decision to send Jason’s bloodwork to Germany for further analysis. That’s when we received the news that he indeed tested positive for four different co-infections of Lyme Disease. This provided us with the acknowledgement and validation that we required to move forward. There are options for treatment, mostly in the USA, which are extremely costly and not covered by any health insurance. The average cost of treatment is 40 - 80 000 USD. This is where I turn to you for help.
Ticks have no dignity. They take everything they possibly can from their host, in this case, Jason, and they strip it of its livelihood. Day in and day out Jay battles through debilitating symptoms with a smile on his face and love in his heart because that’s just who he is. He is a fighter. He is strong. He is selfless and he is worthy of healing. Please help us get him the help he so desperately needs and undoubtedly deserves.
We appreciate any support that you are able to provide. Whether it be a donation, a share, or positive thoughts sent our way. We genuinely appreciate it all.
With love,
Karleigh.
