Aloha,
We have great news to share! Jao’s recovery progression has impressed even the doctors. Jao is walking on his own with no assistance for a short distance. He’s gained almost full mobility/strength to his left side, however, he still cannot move his toes which causes him to sometimes become unbalanced while standing.
Also, Jao was discharged today! He will continue with outpatient PT and will follow up with the neurosurgeon in a few days to remove his staples. The doctors are awaiting his test results from the mass to see how they will proceed with treatment and if he’d need to undergo chemotherapy.
Nonetheless, Jao has made amazing and steady progress and is back to making everyone laugh! The road ahead will still be an ongoing challenge towards his goal of becoming 100% healed but we will continue to be there for him every step of the way.
Thank you all so much for your support; prayers, donations, and shares to your social media platforms. We are beyond grateful!
Mahalo!

Aloha,
Our dearest friend Jao recently fell ill, and it was later discovered that there was a mass in his frontal lobe just under the size of a baseball. On Thursday, 29 February, he was rushed to the ER for further testing which led to emergency surgery for removal on Thursday, 07 March. Surgery went according to plan, but Jao still has a long road to recovery ahead of him and due to the severity, he will be out of work.
Anyone that knows Jao will tell you that he is the most selfless, hardworking, caring, and determined person you’ll ever meet. His sense of humor is only rivaled by the size of his heart. Jao is also a fellow Airman serving in the Hawai’i Air National Guard, 154th Security Forces Squadron. He has been called upon numerous times to serve both his state and country, at home and abroad and now he needs our support the same way that he has supported us.
All the funds we are able to raise will go towards medical expenses not covered by insurance, unexpected costs, and other basic needs.
Understanding many may not be in a position to donate, any amount big or small would be incredibly appreciated. We also ask that you share this with your family, friends, and on your social media platforms. Please continue to keep Jao and his family in your prayers.
Mahalo!
