Hello Family and Friends

I'm Urszula Dehn, and I'm the daughter of Czeslaw and Janina Kuras. My siblings and I have set up this page to help our parents cope with the mounting medical bills incurred over the past few months. My mother has been hospitalized several times since June, with her initial hospitalization related to gallbladder issues. However, following a series of diagnostic tests, including an ultrasound, CT scan, and MRI, her medical team discovered that her bile duct structure was abnormally narrow, necessitating the insertion of a stent to facilitate proper liver drainage. This development marked the beginning of her health decline. My mother has since undergone multiple hospitalizations, procedures, and tests, including four biopsies to check for cancer. On September 3, she received a diagnosis of stage 4 Metastatic Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of bile duct liver cancer. Given that this disease is currently incurable, our treatment goals are centered around halting disease progression, shrinking cancer cells, alleviating her pain, and prolonging her life.

We are hosting this fundraiser to support our parents with their ongoing medical expenses. Although insurance covers a portion of the costs, there are still numerous expenses, including medications, doctor appointments, and specialist visits, that are not covered. We have been managing these expenses for some time now, and it has been a challenging experience. We are also planning for the future, as we are uncertain about the potential side effects that may require hospitalization. Chemotherapy can be taxing on the body, and we are taking every precaution. Normally, we do not seek external assistance, as we are a close-knit family unit. However, this situation has taken a significant toll on us, and any support would be greatly appreciated. We welcome prayers and invite you to pray to St. Peregrine, the patron saint of cancer patients, and the Blessed Virgin Mary for healing and courage.
