Hi Everyone! My siblings and I are fundraising for our mom, Janice. Our mom is a loving mother, grandma, and friend to many. She is a hard worker who worked 2 jobs prior of getting sick.

On January 27th, 2022 she was admitted to the hospital due to shortness of breath. Shortly after, she tested positive for Covid. After 15 days, she was then transferred to the ICU where she was put on a ventilator, due to extremely low oxygen levels. Days later, they realized that she needed more support than they were able to give. She was then transported to Legacy Emmanuel’s Neuro Intensive Care Unit where she continued to be on a ventilator and was put on an ECMO machine which if the highest level of life support. Janice was in a medically induced coma until March 12th. Doctors then took her off paralytic and sedation meds. She slowly started to become more aware and awake. She started to gain her strength and do exercises which then led her to start walking. She was the first patient at Legacy to walk while being on an ECMO machine. The doctors slowly started to lower her ECMO. They came to the conclusion that they were unable to take her off the ventilator fully. She was then given 2 choices. She could be on a ventilator for the rest of her life or get an lung transplant. After talking with family she came to the realization that a transplant would be most beneficial for her. On May 22, 2022 she was flown to California. She is now on the list waiting till they find the perfect match for her!
