Our friends, Laura and James, are facing the most difficult challenge of their lives and they need our help. Less than 3 months ago, James developed a cough that wouldn’t go away. After initially being mistaken for a persistent lung infection, it ultimately became clear that it could be a symptom of something much more serious. Following several x-rays and tests, that cough eventually led to a terrifying diagnosis of stage 4 cancer which has quickly metastasized into his lungs and liver, among other areas. Having never smoked a day in his life, James and his family are in shock to be facing such a diagnosis at the young age of 37.

Before this, life was a dream. James and Laura were married in September 2015 and then blessed with beautiful twin boys, Ben and Reid, in 2016. Laura had just returned from maternity leave at the end of November when James first began to show signs of illness.

James has positively impacted thousands of children throughout his career as a teacher. He currently teaches at Sussex High School but also spent nine years teaching at Sussex Middle School. James would do anything for anyone. He is just one of those people who always has a smile on his face and an optimistic outlook on life. He is a wonderful husband, father, brother, teacher, and friend. He needs our support. They need our support. This is an extremely challenging time in their lives.
