I’m Jack, a 15 yr old British freeride skier who competes on the Freeride Junior World Tour around Europe. I hope to expand my horizons by doing the competitions in New Zealand this summer. I'm super excited to meet new people. I'm hoping this will help me build confidence and learn to train with other people so I can follow my dreams. This trip will be my first experience travelling without my parents and I’m excited to go to the other side of the planet.

MY PLANS AND COSTS

During the past seasons competing I’ve managed to develop relationships with the team from New Zealand, traveling and competing together. I have hosted some of the New Zealanders in our home this winter and found the experience extremely rewarding. I am one of two skiers invited from Europe to travel to Wanaka in the south of New Zealand this summer to live, train and compete with the team.

I am leaving at the start of July and flying to New Zealand before transferring to Wanaka and staying with my host family for 3 months, I will be training during the week on the mountain, in the gym and at the trampoline park. In the last half of the trip I’ll be taking part in three competitions. These competitions count towards the global results for the 24/25 season.

In the long term I’m hoping this will help with my pathway to the 2030 winter Olympics where we hope Freeride is going to be included.

With flights, competition fee's and host family fees the cost is 8,000€.
