Our family and community are coming together to support Jack Turpin, a young boy who is living with something no child should ever have to face.
Jack is a grade five student at Frank L Bowser school and a member of their InHarmony group. He loves soccer, basketball, and is a goalie with Riverview Minor Hockey. Jack loves the Edmonton Oilers and is a die-hard Wildcats fan. He loves the outdoors, video games, and spending time with his friends and family. Jack should be looking forward to his last year of elementary school and gearing up for the 26/27 hockey season. Instead, he and his family are facing a cancer diagnosis.
Jack's journey began mid-June with unexplained difficulty breathing and chest pain. Numerous hospital visits and a transfer to the IWK ultimately led to the discovery that he has Ewing sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. The large tumour put significant strain on his breathing and Jack underwent multiple painful procedures to reduce fluid build up in his chest. July 13th He was finally stable enough to be discharged home and able to continue his chemo in Moncton.
Jack’s treatment protocol is intense and condensed. His body has very little time to rest and recover between treatments. He will soon undergo surgery, followed by radiation and more chemotherapy. Beyond initial treatment Jack will require close monitoring and follow ups with his team at the IWK. Although the road ahead is long, Jack faces every step with courage and a positive attitude.
His family is navigating the emotional weight of watching their son battle cancer, while also facing the financial hardships that come with this diagnosis including ongoing appointments, time away from work, frequent travel to Halifax, and other unexpected expenses that come with caring for a child with cancer.
Jack is surrounded by an incredible community of people who love him and are determined to have his back throughout this fight. We are asking community, friends, family, and anyone who feels able to help to come together for Jack and his family. Every donation can help ease some of the financial burden and allow his family to focus on what matters most- being there for Jack and supporting him through treatment, surgery, and recovery.
If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser is just as meaningful. Every share helps to reach more people and build a larger circle of support around this family.
Thank you for standing beside Jack during this incredibly difficult chapter. Your kindness, encouragement, and generosity mean more than words can express.
