Our family is facing a frightening and unexpected medical crisis, and we are reaching out with heavy hearts. What began as an ordinary workday on November 14th changed everything. Jack suffered a massive heart attack with acute pulmonary edema and was rushed from the ER to the Cath Lab, where he underwent emergency open heart surgery with five bypass grafts. After months of recovery and rehabilitation, our world was shaken again. On March 31st, Jack suffered another heart attack, and we received devastating news: the bypass grafts had failed. Every harvested vein had collapsed, leaving Jack in critical condition. His medical team worked urgently to stabilize him and determine how to keep his heart functioning. Together, they created a plan for a series of PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention) procedures to try to restore blood flow. He completed the first on April 14th, and he will need several more over the next four to six months. For now, he is being closely monitored as we wait and hope for his heart to respond.
Everything has happened so quickly, and the emotional and financial toll has been overwhelming. Jack has been unable to work as his health has declined. This week, we learned that his employment has been terminated, his PFMLA has expired, and both his health and life insurance will end on April 30th. He is still awaiting a decision on long term disability, expected around May 20th, and although he has applied for SSDI, that process is long and difficult even in urgent situations. We are now facing immediate medical expenses, insurance premiums, uncertainty about coverage, and the loss of life insurance — all while trying to keep Jack safe and supported.
Jack is loving, outgoing, and strong. If you know him, you know he’s a true “Townie” — Irish to the core, deeply rooted, steady in his convictions, and always the voice of reason. He works hard, plays hard, and loves deeply. Sharing this post would mean the world to him. We are raising funds to help cover hospitalization and emergency cardiac care, the upcoming PCI procedures, medications, insurance premiums, out of pocket costs, and basic living expenses while Jack is unable to work. Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your support during this unimaginable time. Your compassion gives us strength.
