Help support Isla recover from a youth assault

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jemeela the mother of Isla who is 14.
She suffered an assault just 8 weeks ago (February 2025) in South Shields, Tyne and Wear. At the time she was 13.
She met a “friend” and then was lured to a location that was not visible to the public passing by. A girl aged 14 who was also with a group of girls aged 14 and also an adult girl over the age of 16.
My daughter was then set upon by the girl and assaulted even though my daughter had made it clear she did not want to fight, they carried on and assaulted her, repeatedly kicking and punching her in the head while she was on the ground.
My daughter had suffered mild concussion with a visit to A&E and the doctors for ongoing trauma to her head and ears. She has also suffered considerable mental heath throughout the whole ordeal.

We want to raise awareness as this is becoming more frequent with girls this age to video and post these assaults online through social media apps.

We had to endure watching this happen as a family to her from a video that was taken while the assault was happening and then was posted on a social media app. This was used as evidence to support our daughter through the offence.

She has received some support through the system and through school who have also been supportive and understanding of her mental health throughout.

We would like this support to continue to enable her to take her mind off everything and encourage some positive experiences for her. We would also like to create a sensory space in her bedroom so she has a “safe space” for herself when she is feeling overwhelmed.
My daughter is diagnosed ADHD & ASD so has also struggled to understand and recognise what has happened and why.
It is so important to her that she has something to look forward too and make positive friendships with her peers and became trusting of people around her so that this does not happen again to herself or people around her.
As a family we have chosen to keep our daughters face and identity private and do not want to post the video as the perpetrator is also visible and recognisable.
This is a police matter and the case has now been closed, however the perpetrator is now under a youth offenders program to rehabilitate and is receiving support.

We want to raise money and awareness for our daughter so this does not happen to any other young girls locally and far and wide.

Any monies raised will go towards creating a sensory safe space in her bedroom and any activities to boost her confidence and make friendships that she can trust.

Thank You.
