Our 8th Grade Music in the Parks Trip.

My name is Rob Diefenbach and I'm fortunate enough to be a band teacher at I.S. 230 in Jackson Heights, NY. We're a middle school with great students and a strong music program that serves over 300 students in Chorus and Bands.

This year, we'd love to take our 8th grade band (50 students) to participate in "Music in the Parks" at Six Flags. Students will perform for judges and then spend the afternoon in the park, a real celebration of their hard work, progress, and successes.

Like all NYC public schools, even with dedicated teachers and motivated students, funds can be a seriously limiting factor. We don't want money to be the reason a student can't join us, so through this fundraiser, we'd like to subsidize half of the student cost for the trip. This would help to cover the cost of the bus and the Music in the Parks registration fees.
