Hi everyone, on march 24th morning on our way home from our season opener softball tournament in Columbus, Ohio, myself, cole cotton, Emily sanders, and Ian bogardus were in an awful car accident. People who have seen the scene would say that it is nothing less than a miracle that nobody lost their lives. Three of us were able to walk away without more than a few scratches and bruises. Our boy, and a main piece of the heart of this DX softball squad, Ian bogardus suffered serious injuries.
He was brought to the hospital immediately to start reconstruction on his lip, face, and to stitch up any other cuts he had on his head.
He fractured his cheek bones as well as his C1 vertebrae. We are incredibly thankful that the fracture did not impede or disrupt his spinal cord.
Bogey was able to avoid having spine fusion surgery as it would if restricted his mobility up to 50% for the rest of his life but he did require the placement of a cervical halo for at least 6 weeks, and, none the less is going to have a long road of recovery ahead of him. We would like to raise money to help reduce the cost of medical bills for Ian and his family to help him out while he is out of work for the next said months, and to help accumulate medical assistive devices and modifications that Ian will need for his recovery period.
