Our dear friend Hillary Smyk, 45, daughter of Anthony and Lorna Smyk, urgently needs our help.
On Monday, October 6th, Hillary suffered a life-threatening aortic dissection, the same condition that tragically took her father’s life just a few years ago. By the grace of God, she was at work at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, where she serves as a CT Scan Technologist (CT Tech). Thanks to her quick-thinking colleagues and immediate medical attention, Hillary underwent emergency surgery in the early hours of Monday morning — a surgery that saved her life.
While her survival is truly a miracle, Hillary now faces a long and difficult road to recovery. She will be unable to work for a few months and faces significant medical expenses and living costs during this time.
Hillary is a single mom whose love for life, family, and friends shines brighter than the sun. She is caring, generous, and always the first to offer help when someone else is in need. Now, it’s our turn to rally around her — to lift her up the way she has lifted so many of us.
This isn’t the first time Hillary has faced unimaginable challenges. In 2021, she suffered a stroke that required months of recovery. Shortly after, her father passed away from an aortic dissection, and just a month later, her fiancé died from Covid. Yet through it all, Hillary has remained strong in her faith, resilience, and love of God, continuing to bring joy and encouragement to everyone around her.
Please consider donating to help relieve the financial burden of hospital bills and daily expenses while she heals. Every contribution — big or small — will make a difference and remind Hillary that she’s surrounded by a community that loves and supports her.
If you aren’t able to give financially, please share this page and keep Hillary and her family in your prayers. Your kindness and faith mean the world.
Thank you for being part of her journey toward healing and hope.
