Help Support Hendrix Armes

Brian and Jenna are the proud parents of Hendrix Armes, a 3-year-old boy who has a long road ahead of him. I want to provide this outlet for you to help and support this 3-year-old and his family as they navigate through this difficult time.

It all started on Monday evening when Jenna noticed a rash on Hendrix, that was not there over the weekend.

Wednesday the " blood dots" were appearing on his chest, legs, face, ears, and feet. At this point, she was thinking it was just a viral rash. The doctor said he needs blood work right away. And if it comes back low, or more dots appear they would need to go to emerge.

Thursday morning arrives with a sleepless night. Jenna got a call from the walk-in doctor that Hendrix's blood work came back and it was not the results they were hoping for. His platelets were 14 and the normal is 150. So Jenna and Brian had to go to emerge where they were taken right away, and more blood work was done. Transferred to a pediatric doctor, who said the word " cancer". They were told not to worry, but they would need to consult with Sick Kids. The doctor came back to the room to inform Jenna and Brian that Hendrix has leukemia.

They were taken to Sick Kids by ambulance for platelet transfusion and blood transfusion right away.

This is news no parent ever wishes to hear.

After a 24-hour whirlwind, Hendrix has been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia( ALL). He has started chemotherapy and has a long road ahead of him. Hendrix, Brian and Jenna will be living full-time at Ronald McDonald house for at least a month to be close to Sick Kids. For the " induction phase" of Chemo.

Jenna and Brian will not only have to take time off of work they will now be travelling back and forth to the city regularly, paying for parking, gas, and food while trying to keep up with their household expenses.
