Help Make HedgeFest 2026 Happen!
HedgeFest, the best (only?) benefit concert to support urban hedgehogs returns to London on Saturday, 5th September at The Ivy House, Nunhead for an afternoon and evening of live music in support of one of Britain's most iconic yet endangered prickly friends. Please help us with a donation to allow us to reach our goal to produce the event!
Why hedgehogs?
Hedgehogs are under threat across the UK as habitat is lost and fragmented, making it harder for them to find food, shelter and safe places to roam. In the 1950s, there may have been as many as 30 million hedgehogs in Britain; by 1995, that estimate had fallen to around 1.5 million. Today, the best available estimate is around 879,000 across England, Scotland and Wales.
Cities like London can play an important role in giving hedgehogs a helping hand. Gardens and green spaces provide vital habitat, but fences, walls and roads can leave hedgehogs isolated. One simple solution is to create a 13cm x 13cm gap in the bottom of a garden fence - a “hedgehog highway” – allowing our spiney friends to move between gardens in search of food and mates.
HedgeFest is not just about raising money for hedgehog conservation but showing Londoners the small, practical things we can all do to make our neighbourhoods more hedgehog-friendly. Every garden connected is another little route for a hedgehog to roam!
We're raising funds to help cover the costs of putting on the event, including venue hire and production, equipment, and other essential expenses. Every contribution helps us create a fantastic community event while ensuring that as much of the money raised on the day as possible goes to supporting hedgehog conservation.
This year's line-up features Steely Dan 2, Gareth Freiheit, and Uncanny Valley Girls with more acts still to be announced, followed by a late-night disco set from DJ Exotic Woodwork.
After covering event costs and supporting our performers, all proceeds will be donated to The People's Trust for Endangered Species (PTES) and the British Hedgehog Preservation Society (BHPS).
Whether you can join us in London on the day (or you're cheering us on from elsewhere!) we'd be incredibly grateful for your support, kindness, and well wishes.
Every donation helps make HedgeFest possible and every little spike counts!
