Help Support Happy Hooves 2023 Fundraiser

Dear Neighbor,

My name is Karen Wang, and I’m reaching out on behalf of Happy Hooves Sanctuary, a haven to animals rescued from abuse, neglect, and slaughter. Beginning in 2018 on Bainbridge Island, Happy Hooves’ story started with one mini-horse in immediate need of shelter, food, and care, and has grown to house more than 13 goats and horses. We purchased a farm, repaired existing structures, built new stalls, began welcoming animals, and the rest is history.

In addition to our care of animals, we also provide opportunities for the community to interact with and benefit from the animals. We host an annual summer camp for children where they can ride horses, learn about horsemanship, and develop an appreciation for animals. We also provide equine therapy, which is a unique and beneficial activity to help children with a range of disabilities including autism and ADHD. As children develop equine skills, Happy Hooves offers opportunities to serve as mentors to new participants, a powerful way to build confidence and develop leadership skills.

This year, the funds raised from our summer camp were used to cover vet bills, winter hay, the construction of additional outdoor shelters and drainage systems and to send two horses in need of additional intervention off-site for training. Thank you so much for supporting our summer camp fundraising and making our mission possible.
As the number of animals and activities at Happy Hooves have grown, so has the need for more resources, funding, and help. We don’t want to turn away any animal seeking refuge or any family needing equine therapy due to our limited staff and financial capacity.

We are reaching out to our fellow community members to ask for your support in this time of need. Our fundraising goal is $60,000 which to help us to cover necessary equipment purchases, veterinary expenses, and additional staffing. With your support we can install a larger arena to train multiple horses at once, be assured we can cover the cost of future health expenses for our animals and hire a new team member to assist with managing the barn and stalls, freeing up other staff to care for the animals, work with special needs children, and manage summer camp planning.

A donation of any size will help advance us toward our goal for these necessary projects. Your gift will make a significant impact for our animals and the children who visit our farm. You can make a one-time or recurring donation on our website at https://happyhoovessanctuary.org/giving. If you are unable to make a monetary contribution at this time but still want to support our cause, please share our campaign with your friends, family members, and coworkers. With more people aware of our cause, we’ll be one step closer to reaching our goal.

The team at Happy Hooves Sanctuary would like to thank you in advance for your consideration and support.

With gratitude,
Karen Wang and HHS team
