In September of 2021, our much-loved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and best friend, Griselda was diagnosed with brain cancer. Over the past year, she has bravely endured many different treatments and is getting ready to start treatment again. As a result of treatment complications and side effects from her tumor, Griselda has experienced many hospital admissions, even more trips to the ER, a stay at physical rehab, surgeries, intense chronic pain, and days full of medications and appointments. Having a cancer diagnosis ends up putting a strain on all aspects of life. Due to being a full-time caregiver, Griselda's wife, Kelsey, has been unable to work since Griselda was diagnosed. Thanks to the generous donations of vacation hours from their coworkers and friends, Kelsey was able to maintain her income and their family's health insurance for some time. Unfortunately, Kelsey's paid leave has been exhausted, and she will now be taking an unpaid leave of absence from work for the foreseeable future. This leaves Kelsey and Griselda without an income and responsible for their entire insurance premium and taking care of all of their medical and daily living expenses. Together, Kelsey and Griselda are tackling each day as a team, with their daughter, Cynthia, pitching in when she can. Griselda has been fighting with so much strength, dignity, bravery, and even in the hardest of times, with a sense of humor that lights up the room. We hope that by supporting Griselda and Kelsey in this way, we will be able to alleviate the financial burden they have to carry currently and allow them to focus their time on treatment and enjoying life together as best they can.
