Help Support Gizelle

In November 2020, just one day after her 2nd birthday, our sweet Gizelle “baby doll”, experienced her 2nd seizure exhibited by several minutes of “staring” and then ultimately, her passing out. After further testing, her MRI revealed she had a brain tumor which doctors believed was the cause of the seizure. Because of the location of the tumor, doctors were hesitant in operating to remove the tumor, and instead decided it was best to continue to monitor the tumor and also monitor Gizelle for further seizure activity and/or changes. In December 2020- tumor same, no seizures/changes

March 2021- tumor same, no seizures/changes

Her neurologist then decided that waiting for repeat MRI in 6 months would be appropriate

September 2021- tumor same, no seizures/changes

Her neurologist then decided that waiting a year would be appropriate.

Well, August 16, 2022, Gizelle experienced her 3rd and most intense seizure, where she was in “staring”/ “unresponsive” state for 25 minutes. She was treated in hospital and it was determined that Gizelle’s tumor has increased in size and had spread to other parts of her brain. A separate tumor was also noticed in a another part of the brain .

As a result, Gizelle will be undergoing surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible on September 20th. Her neurologist will not be able to grade the tumor I-4(one low grade, 4 high grade) until they sample the tissue after surgery. On top of that, her neurologist expressed that there is a highly likelihood Gizelle will have left sided weakness, which could be permanent. This is a very stressful time for our family but we know God is able ! Recovery time could take several weeks to months and depending on grade of tumor, chemo, radiation, etc. may be required further extending recovery time. ❤️‍ As a result, I will be out of work to tend to my baby. We are asking for support to cover expenses related to Gizelle’s care and to cover expenses related to keeping a roof over our heads (mortgage), utilities, transportation, child care, etc. Any donations will be greatly appreciated as we venture through Gizelle’s care and treatment.
