With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we share the unexpected passing of our sweet Gionna.

On July 25th, Gionna suffered a blood clot that traveled to the left side of her brain, causing a massive stroke that affected three major areas. She also arrived at the ICU with a ruptured spleen and a severe infection that spread to her heart and lungs. After fighting courageously for three long weeks in the ICU, she was transferred to a specialty hospital, where her body sadly succumbed to organ failure from all the trauma she had endured.

On August 14th, our family was faced with the decision no family should ever have to make. We chose what was medically best for Gionna, allowing her to be taken off life support so she could pass peacefully and free from suffering. It was the hardest thing we have ever had to do, and not a day goes by that we don’t miss her deeply.

At just 19 years old, Gionna touched countless lives. She was one of the funniest, kindest, and most loving souls you could ever meet. She was not only a wonderful daughter, but also an amazing mother, sister, dog mom, and a gifted stylist who could bring beauty and confidence to anyone she touched. She was truly the light of our lives.

In the midst of this heartbreaking loss, we are asking for help and support with the financial burden of Gionna’s cremation, memorial arrangements, and ongoing family expenses. Her mother, Julmecka, has been out of work since Gionna’s hospitalization, never leaving her side. She continues to provide for Gionna’s younger sister Niela, whom is still in high school.

We will also be holding a Celebration of Life for Gionna at a later date, which will be shared with everyone who would like to attend.
