On November 15, 2020 Tom Garman was badly burned while saving his family and house from an oil fire.
Their daughter was cooking dumplings. She is usually a really good and careful chef, however this day was an exception. She filled a sauce pot half full of oil and unfortunately walked away. The oil got so hot it caught on fire. Tom rushed in the kitchen to yells of fire from his wife Meranda. He tried to cover the pot but the flame was too big and shot out the sides. Without hesitation, Tom picked up the pot of hot flaming oil and carried it out of the kitchen, through their breakfast nook, and out to the yard. All the while, burning hot grease spilled on his hands, legs, and their floor, burning their floor and turning their ceiling gray from smoke. When Tom opened the door the wind blew, and the fire exploded on to him, wrapping around his side. It melted his pants and instantly burned his body. He has 2nd and 3rd degree burns from his waist down and on both hands
He is in extreme pain from the burns and is also recovering from pneumonia.
To top all of this, Meranda's income has dropped significantly due to covid.
With Christmas coming up, we would like to give back and help take some of the burden and stress off of them! We are setting this GoFundMe page to financially help with their loss of income as they will be having alot of costs in the next few months. Tom has many weeks of recovery ahead of him. This will help with all the expenses that come with the bandages, medicine, and just over all health needs. Meranda and Tom give so much to everyone around them and help in any way thay can. We want to give back to them!
We are hoping to raise enough money to ease their stress through this difficult time! Any amout helps!!
