Help Support Frankie's Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Frankie McCarthy (27 years old) was in his normal state of health when he began to experience tiredness and migraine headaches. As the headaches worsened, he began to experience nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and blurry vision. Little did he know, the vicious headaches were, in fact, seizures. As time went on, the pain became unbearable, and he knew something wasn’t right. He began the process of seeking medical help. After seeing multiple doctors and specialists, an MRI of the brain was ordered and showed a large mass within the left frontal lobe of his brain.

Unfortunately, Frankie was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the end of December 2021. He sought surgical opinions from a variety of Neurosurgeons. Who all concluded within two weeks, he would need to have urgent surgery to remove the brain tumor. Doctors considered Frankie extremely lucky to have found this tumor when he did. The surgeons were very confident they could remove the entire tumor during the surgery. If this tumor had gone undetected for a couple more months, doctors concluded the tumor would have been considered inoperable.

On January 13th, 2022, Frankie had left Craniotomy Surgery for resection of the tumor. The surgery was successful. Frankie couldn’t have done any better during the surgery and is currently working through his recovery process.

On January 31st, 2022, Frankie met with Neuro-Oncologist to discuss his results. His tumor results came back, and he was diagnosed with an infiltrating glioma compatible with oligodendroglioma. He will begin 4 cycles of radiation therapy followed by chemotherapy.

Before his diagnosis in December, Frankie (a Division One lacrosse goalie and College graduate of Mount St Mary’s University in 2016) worked in medical device sales. He also worked and volunteered in the lacrosse community for Headstrong Foundation, St Joe’s Prep Lacrosse, Delco Lacrosse and Athlete’s United Lacrosse.
His “relentless determination” is not only tattooed on his back but is the motto for which he lives and teaches his lacrosse players. Frankie continues to be positive and will be relentless in his recovery.

This GoFundMe is to help him pay his out-of-pocket medical expenses to focus on his recovery without financial worry during this hardship.

Thank you for all the overwhelming love, support, and prayers during this difficult time.
