Late last night, my best friend Emma Bernier and her family went through something incredibly frightening with their beloved 9-month-old kitten, Frankie. Out of nowhere, Frankie became unable to walk, in tremendous pain, and hissing at anyone who tried to touch him. The Berniers rushed him to the emergency vet, terrified of what might be wrong.
After hours at the clinic, Frankie was diagnosed with a slipped capital physeal fracture, also known as slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE). This means the ball at the top of his thighbone has slipped out of place through the growth plate in his hip. It’s a painful and serious condition that leaves him unable to bear weight, and it requires urgent medical care to prevent long-term complications.
The Bernier family is doing everything they can for Frankie. Frankie is a loving, playful kitten who means the world to this family, and seeing him in pain has been heartbreaking. If you’re able, please consider donating to help cover Frankie’s emergency care and treatment. Every contribution—no matter the size—makes a difference and brings Frankie one step closer to healing.
If you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser means just as much.
Thank you so much for your love, support, and kindness.
