Help Support Fr. John's Journey to Full Transplant Recovery

My name is Cathy Fuska. My friend Fr. John Slovikovski was in need of a liver transplant. I'm very happy to report that Fr. John underwent a generally successful liver transplant surgery on July 13th at Allegheny General Hospital in

Pittsburgh. He was progressing well the first few days; however, due to FIVE (5) unexpected setbacks, his presumed 5 -8 day stay has resulted in 4 weeks in ICU, One week on a t stepdown unit in AGH and was recently transferred to West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh for extended medical observation, occupational and physical therapy. THIS HAS BEEN A VERY HARD ROAD FOR HIM. Please keep him in your prayers. Even though insurance pays for immediate transplant costs, there are many other costs and fees associated with treatment after organ transplantation that cannot be met by him due to his limited income. These costs include but are not limited to specialized medications, gasoline (several trips back and forth to Pittsburgh per week to for the course of one year) housing and food for us, his friends who will be transporting and supporting him during this process, as well as other incidentals. As you can imagine, these costs can add up very quickly. IN fact, they have INCREASED due to the the unexpected setbacks. God has been very good to us through this point of the transplant process. We are humbly asking donors if they can assist with costs so that Fr. John can go through the process and return to optimal health to continue to serve his faith community of Visitation Parish in west central Pennsylvania. No donation is too larger or too small. A few dollars can make a great difference. We would be grateful beyond words for anything that you can do to assist us in this journey and know that you will be in Fr. John's prayers and in ours in thanksgiving for your generosity.
