Help Support for Emergency Stroke Treatment my father
Donation protected
My name is Faria, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and deep humility to ask for your help.
My father, Salauddin, 72 yrs old, a visitor from Bangladesh, recently suffered a severe medical emergency while visiting me here in Melbourne, Australia. He was rushed to Maroondah Public Hospital Emergency Short Stay and ICU, diagnosed with a posterior circulation stroke, alongside dangerously high blood pressure, uncontrolled diabetes, and symptoms of internal bleeding.
As he is in Australia on a tourist visa, he has no access to Medicare, and Medibank Private has denied coverage, claiming his condition to be “pre-existing” based on technicalities — even though the severe symptoms began only hours after his policy started.
I am his only family and carer here. He has been supporting me entirely on my limited income while i am fighting my own health issues. The emotional and financial toll has become overwhelming. The hospital cost is expected to exceed $16,000–$40,000 just for the accommodation.
Although he has now been discharged, his condition remains fragile. He is unable to walk, requires a wheelchair, nursing aids, and is fully dependent for daily activities. Everyday he continues to vomit despite medication, sugar levels fluctuate drastically — dropping to 3.6 mmol/L and spiking to 14.4 mmol/L within hours.
As many of you know, I am also trying to support my parents’ visa process, which adds more financial pressure to our already overwhelming medical situation.
During his hospital stay, I received no social worker support, but the accounts team visited multiple times asking for payment — even while we were still in crisis. On top of that, my mother’s health has deteriorated due to extreme stress.
We are in a critical situation — I cannot work full-time due to my own medical condition (including a head injury and chronic osteosis), and we have exhausted every support option available.
I am humbly asking for your support — any donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards covering my father’s hospitalisation and urgent medical needs. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this campaign with your networks.
Your kindness will not only help save my father’s life but also allow us to continue his care with dignity and hope.
