On Saturday, October 12th, Caylee came inside from playing, claiming her head hurt. Danielle assumed she hit her head and monitored her for the next little bit. Eventually, Danielle & Rick took Caylee to the ER in Anacortes, where a CT showed a bleed on her brain. They decided to medivac her to Harborview, where it was determined that she actually has what's called AVM - Arteriovenous Malformation. Basically, a cluster of veins and arteries that are all jumbled together, restricting their flow. This is something that is congenital. It is not known if Caylee did in fact fall and the fall jostled the cluster and caused it to rupture, or if it ruptured on its own and that's what caused her to fall and claim her head hurt.
The plan going forward is for Caylee to remain in Seattle at Harborview and then eventually Children's while we wait for the fluid on her brain to reduce and eventually be absorbed once again.
In a couple of weeks, after she has healed from this initial trauma, Caylee will have another angiogram, and the team here at Harborview will come up with a plan of action: either radiation or surgery. The head surgeon is confident that whichever route is taken, they will be able to successfully remove the cluster, and Caylee should have a full recovery.
We are asking for prayers for sweet Caylee as well as for the rest of the Coyle family, as you can imagine how hard this is on all of them. During the time that Caylee is in the hospital, funds raised here will help with lodging, food, and hospital bills.
Our family is so appreciative of all of the prayers and well wishes that have already been sent to Caylee and the Coyle's - keep them coming!
