On May 5, their beautiful baby boy, James, was born weighing only 2 lbs 3 oz. He is currently under the care of the NICU team at Sunnybrook Hospital and continues to fight hard every day. Doctors expect that James will remain in the hospital until he reaches approximately 38 to 40 weeks, meaning Evelyn and Seth will need to stay in the GTA for the next several months so they can remain close to their son during this critical time.

Hi everyone, my name is Karen, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my niece Evelyn and her fiancé Seth during an incredibly unexpected and emotional time in their lives.

This past Saturday, Evelyn was suddenly airlifted from Timmins to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto after going into preterm labor at 27 weeks. What should have been the final weeks of preparing for their baby boy has quickly turned into a stressful and uncertain journey far from home.

Their son, James, will be arriving much earlier than planned and will need specialized care. Evelyn and Seth are now facing an extended stay in the GTA, likely until August, so they can be close to their baby while he receives the care he needs.

As you can imagine, this sudden displacement has brought significant financial strain. Between travel back and forth, accommodations in Toronto, and the daily cost of meals and essentials, the expenses are quickly adding up. Seth has also had to take time off work to be by Evelyn’s side during this critical time.

Evelyn and Seth are strong, loving, and devoted, and right now their focus needs to be on their baby boy—not on how they’ll afford to stay close to him.
