Help Support Erin Lambert's Brain Surgery

Hello! My name is Erin Lambert. I am a mother of 2 amazing girls, Ryanne and Ruby, a wife to a wonderful husband, Ryan, and an animal lover/ foster mom.

If you know my little family at all, you know that our family has been through the wringer over the past 8 years. It’s been one health catastrophe after another, especially with our youngest, Ruby. Unfortunately, it’s my turn this time.

After years of odd and gradually worsening symptoms, I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation I with a large bony growth on the occipital bone. This means my cerebellum is sinking into my spinal canal causing pressure and displacement of my brain, spinal fluid and nerves. The cerebellum is resposible for motor skills, language, balance and more. I have been afflicted with constant nauseau (losing over 50 lbs total), extreme pressure/ migraines in the back of my head, numbness in my extremities, poor word recall, slurred speech, sharp intense nerve pain in my neck, poor memory, confusion and altered reality.

While glad to have an answer to my issues, a very serious brain/ spinal surgery is needed. To stop further damage to my brain and nervous system I will need to have a procedure called posterior fossa decompression surgery. This means the neurosurgeon would remove bone and tissue from the back of my skull and spine to relieve pressure on the cerebellum, nerves and spinal cord. While not a guaranteed fix it, I am hopeful it will relieve the majority of my symptoms

Surgery is scheduled for August 2nd in Detroit, MI. I will be in the ICU for up to 2 days and in a regular room for an additional 1-2 days before being sent home. Recovery will take up to 12 weeks.

This will be a HUGE financial strain on my family with loss of wages, medical costs, travel and round the clock caregiving. Please know that my family and I will be grateful for anything donated and that it will be put to good use!
