Support Elham's family from Gaza

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Elham. I am married and the mother of 3 beautiful children. Before the genocide in Gaza, I worked as a teacher of English in a governmental school and lived in Western Rafah in the South of Gaza. We stayed at home as long as we could, with the risk of dying under rubble and as diseases spread more and more.

Because we lived near the Egyptian border along to the viladelvia line, we anticipated that we would be the first people to be attacked when the Israeli occupation starts to attack Rafah . I couldn't let my kids to live all these terrible moments. The border with Egypt is bombed everyday. We felt so scared, you can't imagine how horrible it was really, but we lived it

My husband and I made an extremely difficult decision and decided to leave the country and seek a safe haven away from the sounds of bombing. My husband lost his career as a chef in a resort on the coast of the Rafah Sea and that made it even more clear we had to leave because we had no way to survive financially (in addition to the bombing). We were able to raise money to fund our evacuation and are very grateful for the people who donated to help us with that. We applied for coordination to enter Egyptian territory to facilitate our travel and got approval.

Leaving our home was very emotional. I was confused what to take with me from home and I wished I could carry every corner of it with me. Our house was not only a shelter, it was security. We had a wonderful life and memories in that house, which have been contaminated by the war machine and have reduced everything around the house to a pile of rubble. Many houses have been bombed around us and we have lost many relatives and friends.

Now, I am in Egypt with my family and struggling to pay for daily essentials here. I have started teaching English to Gazan students who had to flee to Egypt to make extra money but it's not enough money to get by. My dream is to rent a small flat as a safe place for my family (my husband and 3 kids), and next I could set up my own job. I'd love to create a centre to teach English for students and refugees from Gaza.

Any amount of donation would be so helpful for supporting my family. We dream of returning to Gaza, but in the meantime we have to figure out how to survive here.

Note from the organizer: My name is Nicola and I am hosting this Gofundme for my friend, Elham. We attended Seeds of Peace summer camp together in Maine in 2005. All funds raised will be transferred directly to Elham's family to help them with daily necessities as refugees in Egypt.
