My sister-in-law, Dusti, was recently involved in a horrible car accident while driving with her two young boys. A crash that left their vehicle completely totaled.
Wednesday morning, after she dropped their 8yr old daughter off at school, Dusti was heading to drop off her 9 month and 2 year old boys at daycare so she could attend a work conference.
While passing through an intersection, Dusti & the boys were struck by another vehicle that completely blew through their stop sign.
By an absolute miracle, the boys walked (and crawled) away with only bruising thanks to the 5-point harnesses that protected them. Their safety is a blessing.
Dusti, however, wasn’t as fortunate. She suffered head trauma that required stitches above her eye and a shattered tibia that needed immediate surgery. The hours that followed were filled with fear, uncertainty, and the heartbreaking realization that her recovery would be long, painful, and full of challenges. She now faces months of healing, bed ridden for weeks, not being able to work, and not being able to keep up with the pace of motherhood.
As Dusti focuses on recovery, her husband Spencer is doing everything he can to hold their world together. He continues working full-time to support their children and maintain their farm/venue, all while caring for Dusti, juggling appointments, managing the home, and trying to stay present for their kids. Though he is incredibly strong, the emotional and financial weight on him is heavy.
And heartbreakingly, this accident wasn’t the first crisis their family faced this year.
The beginning of 2025 brought both blessings and unimaginable fear. Just one month after welcoming their youngest baby, Brodi, Dusti and Spencer lived every parent’s worst nightmare- finding him unresponsive early one morning. Spencer performed CPR until paramedics arrived. Brodi was rushed to the hospital and nearly lost his life to RSV. The terror of that morning and the recovery that followed left a deep emotional mark on their family.
So while 2025 has brought precious gifts, it has also delivered some of the lowest lows they have ever faced.
With Dusti unable to work, medical bills piling up, the loss of their vehicle, and the urgent need for a replacement car, the financial strain is becoming overwhelming. No one prepares for moments like this.
That’s why we’re coming together, humbly asking for support.
Any amount, big or small, will help ease the burden and give Dusti the space to heal without the added fear of financial hardship. Your generosity will go directly toward medical bills, transportation needs, and helping stabilize the family while Dusti regains her strength.
If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping Dusti and her family in your prayers.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read their story.
