Hello, I am Holly Aschenbrenner. I am Sarah's aunt.
Early October Sarah and Doyle Pletcher were preparing for the arrival of Drake. They thought they had about 2 months to go before he would arrive. Drake was so excited to meet his mommy and daddy that Sarah's water broke and she was flown to Denver. Drake couldn't wait even though they tried and he came into the world at 32 weeks. They spent the next 7 weeks in Denver in the NICU. He suffered from a few issues with his Trachea and Esophagus that required several surgeries. During this time mom and dad didn't leave his side. They spent many nights at the Ronald McDonald house, but meals, traveling home to take care of bills and the house added up.
Drake got to come home right after Thanksgiving. He was doing really well. Sarah and Doyle were ready to have some peace and quiet and enjoy a healthy Drake. :-)
On January 18th Drake was taken to the doctor in Goodland and diagnosed with RSV. It didn't take long for the doctors there to realize how serious this was and they flew Drake to Denver again. After not seeing any improvement, the doctors put Drake on a Ventilator to help the poor little guy recover. He has had his good days and bad, but with a lot of prayers from all of you he continues to fight.
So far since birth he has been in the NICU/PICU 8 weeks and counting. His medical bills alone have totaled over a million dollars. Thankfully they have insurance, but Deductibles and Copays are still there. Living away from home for 8 weeks and not being able to work have added to the financial burden for Sarah and Doyle.
Please Consider helping in whatever way you can. If that means prayers, or financially, or both---Drake, Sarah, and Doyle thank you and so does our family.
