Please consider supporting Dr. Norman Franklin’s medical expenses.
This is something that my family never imagined we would be doing. Our dear 93 year old father, who saved more than enough for retirement, now finds himself extremely low on funds, and while we have done our best to contribute, his expenses (particularly cancer treatments and medical expenses) have become too much to manage.
As our Dad navigates through what he refers to as the December of his life, many of his medical needs, including cancer treatments, have not been covered by insurance. We - his children - are doing what we can to contribute to his expenses, but we find that they have become too much to manage.
Dad was always there to help others, supporting them with life's problems and issues, and even providing financial support to extended family and friends. While he saved diligently for retirement, things don't always go as planned, and unfortunately he had to fully support a sick relative for over 30 years, which, as you can imagine, depleted his savings....and he never thought he would live into his 90's. This is not a situation where anyone did anything wrong, or didn't save enough. Sometimes life takes a turn you don't expect, and he now finds himself in a situation where he is in need of support.
With much trepidation, and as a last resort, we created this Go Fund me page, and are asking friends and family to contribute what they feel comfortable, giving in support of Norman's medical expenses.
A bit about our father: Dr. Norman Franklin, grew up in Wheeling, WV, and after serving in the Air Force as a Captain and OBGYN, and completing additional medical training in Seattle and Pittsburgh, he returned to Wheeling to practice medicine when we were young children. Our father was very active in our community, supporting the American Heart Association, taking leadership positions at our temple, and volunteering to lead the Red Cross in Wheeling for many years. Dad was always available to help anyone who needed it. From the neighborhood kids who would interrupt our dinner to get bandaged, to the lawn care guy who needed medical advice, and sadly, helping a close friend who needed guidance because their child had a very serious form of cancer.
Our dad is a proud and intelligent man who practiced medicine for over 40 years. It breaks our hearts that his last years are not secure for him. We thank you in advance for supporting our fundraiser - 100% of the funds will go to cover dad's cancer treatments and medical expenses.
