Help support Devin & Tara through Trauma Survival
If you have worked at Flagstaff Medical Center over the last 25 years, it is certain that you have seen Tara walking the halls or have worked beside her. If you don’t know Tara, she is a Respiratory Therapist who has been giving phenomenal care to our patients from all over the world and to our own community members.
On the night of November 7, 2020 during a frigid storm at their cabin on Hart Prarie, Tara and her husband Devin were preparing for their early morning. The two were moving their vehicles when unbeknownst to Tara, Devin had slipped. This resulted in Devin becoming tragically pinned beneath their vehicle.
Devin was treated emergently at Flagstaff Medical Center as a Trauma Critical and required emergent surgery. While in the operating room, Devin’s injuries caused him to go into cardiac arrest. After his team saved his life, he was sent to the Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit for further care. He has suffered a pneumothorax, multiple rib fractures, and a dissected bronchus. These injuries require more procedures, surgeries, and time in the hospital.
Devin will need intensive rehabilitation and intensive therapies when he is able to leave the hospital. Both Tara and Devin will be missing work. In addition to this, we all know that the abundance of overwhelming and complicated medical bills will start arriving. Let’s try to relieve some of this stress in order to allow them to focus on their road to healing.
Devin and Tara would never ask for help but we know they will need it. These two love spending time with their dogs in the great outdoors and adventuring with family. They are loved by their children and they are loved by their grandchildren. Though this is a trying time financially for many, if we can spare anything at all to give some support, it would be immensely appreciated.
