Meet my dear friend Denise, and her two beautiful kids, Sophia and Micah. Those of you who know Denise, can probably recall a time that she stepped in to help you and your family in some fashion. She is the first to offer to be by your side, pray for you, watch your kiddos, or give you whatever she has with joy. She knows a thing or two about moving through adversity with joy, laughter, and a strong faith in God.
Unfortunately, three years ago she was faced with a situation that none of us ever imagined would be a part of our families stories. Her husband of almost seven years, with no notice, no conversation, not even an inclination, walked away from her and her two young children, leaving Denise to parent and provide for the three of them on her own. Despite all of her efforts, the marriage eventually ended.
Facing an immensely painful and heart-wrenching season for her and the kids, Denise continued to step up and rise above the situation she was faced with, along side the support from family, friends, and her church community.
Sadly, in the last three years her ex husband has made hardly any effort to complete the steps necessary to be considered able, by the courts, to see her children without supervision. He has left her with unpaid doctor and dentist bills, his outstanding debts, overdrawn bank accounts kept in her name, and she has had to pay many expensive lawyers fees to protect her kids and provide a safe and stable environment for them. This doesn’t even touch on the emotional detriment that her and the kids have had to endure.
Her valley has been low, but her eyes have stayed looking up to provide her children with the best life she can.
In the midst of all this, the pandemic has created even more unique challenges. As many of us are facing financial difficulties, Denise is not able to take employment, as she has to make sure that her children are being cared for, and able to continue with their distant learning programs. This has made it nearly impossible for her to keep up with the legal fees.
To say the least, Denise and the kids have endured a lot. They have stayed strong on the firm foundation God has placed them on. Faithfully, they continue to trust, and pray for God’s provisions.

And if you are financially able, PLEASE consider making a charitable donation to her and her family. This gift will go towards her $5,000 retainer fee. This would allow her lawyer to represent her at the up coming custody trial. The other $3,000 will go towards past legal fees and outstanding debts left in her name. A gift of $10, $20 or $50 will help get her a step closer to having representation and cover some of these very expensive costs in this difficult situation.
