Meet Declan, the son of Brian & Jammie McManus.

 

My name is Christy McManus, and I am Declan's Aunt. At the young age of one, Declan was diagnosed with Heart Block & Bradycardia and was required to have a Pacemaker nine years later. A few weeks ago, after fighting an infection at the pacemaker site for two years, he notified his parents that he had some discomfort in his chest. His parents headed straight to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, given his history.

 

It was determined that Declan had amassed a substantial infection around the site that he could not fight off. Declan was then required to go under the knife again to remove his pacemaker and clear up the infection. As of today, Declan remains at CHOP and is still fighting this infection hard.

 

Due to the need for parental care and a lack of benefits from their employers, Brian has been out of work on FMLA without pay. Going on just over two weeks, family funds are dwindling fast. Anyone who knows our family, asking for help is not easy. This is where we must turn to family and friends for some support.
