Help Support Deb Dennis with Medical Expenses
Donation protected
At the end of January, our wonderful friend Deb Dennis had not been feeling well for days. They initially suspected she had an upper respiratory infection during her first appointment. As her condition worsened, she visited the emergency room on February 5th, where a CT scan revealed fluid in her lungs and a large mass on her right ovary. They referred her to an oncologist and scheduled her for a procedure to remove fluid from her lungs the next day.
Following her consultation with the oncologist, surgery was scheduled for February 20th to determine if she had ovarian cancer. The plan included conducting a complete hysterectomy and biopsies of the surrounding areas including lymph nodes if cancer was detected during the operation. Ovarian cancer was confirmed, and the hysterectomy was performed successfully. Unfortunately, due to sudden heart issues during surgery, they had to close her up early, preventing them from completing all biopsies. Deb remained intubated in the ICU post-surgery into the next day while further tests were conducted on her heart. The results revealed that she not only has ovarian cancer but also heart failure, which they believe is unrelated to her cancer but complicates her treatment.
She has Stage 1a Dysgerminoma Ovarian Cancer, which typically affects individuals under the age of 30. Fortunately, the cancer was detected early, and chemotherapy is not being considered at this time due to concerns about her heart. She is considered cancer-free at this time; but will require close monitoring every six months to ensure there is no recurrence. Her heart failure is being treated at this time with medications, and they have kept her heart stable since she was released from the hospital. She has upcoming appointments with a hematologist due to blood clots and cardiologist for further discussions concerning her heart health.
Deb unfortunately does not have short-term disability or any remaining paid time off to cover her lost wages, and she faces significant medical expenses due to her high deductible and copayments associated with numerous appointments, procedures, and surgery. We are kindly requesting your help in easing some of the burden during her recovery until she can return to work. Deb has always shown compassion and willingness to help others in so many ways and now needs our support more than ever.
We would be grateful for any support or donations you are able to provide.
This is the only GoFundMe set up for Deb.
