Darren’s Upcoming Cancer Treatment Costs

Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,

I am reaching to you today with a heavy heart to share news about Darren’s Health Journey.

For those of you who are not aware Darren was diagnosed with prostate cancer that had already spread to his hips and spine in November 2022.

Darren and I are both serving members of the RCMP and currently live in the Edmonton area. Darren has been a regular member with the RCMP for 20 years serving in BC and Alberta. Darren has been off work to focus on his health as he's been faced with the daunting task of undergoing extensive treatment to fight this disease.

Darren has undergone chemotherapy, participated in a trial treatment, hormonal injections every 6 months along with several other oral medications. His oncologist has recommended a course of targeted radiation treatment. This treatment is approved by the Canadian Government and only offered in BC and Quebec at this time.

As you can imagine, the costs associated with Cancer treatment are substantial and can quickly become overwhelming.

Despite having health insurance, the out of pocket expenses for treatments, medications and other medical necessities can add up rapidly with a significant financial burden.

At this time, our RCMP benefits have declined to cover the recommended treatment and travel expenses for Darren. There have been several groups diligently working in the background to appeal that decision.

I am reaching out to you for support at this challenging time. Your donations will help alleviate the financial stress of cancer treatment and travel costs to allow us to focus on his health and recovery.
