Help Support Darlene Williams Through Her Suspension

This fundraiser is to support Darlene Williams. Darlene Williams, is a Houston Heights mail carrier of 13 years. She has been suspended without pay since June 3rd and bills are starting to pile up. Darlene's paycheck and insurance are very important to her. And I know any contribution, no matter the size would go along way in helping her.

Based on all the facts that have been collected & documented from Union Steward @ USPS: Darlene was told by examiner at USPS she needed to review Darlene's route and do a "ride along". Darlene requested that the examiner ride behind her instead of in Darlene's car due to Darlene's immune compromised position. The examiner refused and a brief albeit calm standoff ensued. A USPS Union representative witnessed the incident and corroborated Darlene's side of the story. However, both Darlene and the Union representative have been suspended without pay from their jobs since June 3rd.

Darlene has been an integral part of our community, known not only for her professionalism and dedication but also for her caring nature and the personal connections she has built with so many of us. Rain or shine, she is there with an infectious smile and our mail.

I have been going around handing out fliers around the neighborhood to help gain awareness of Darlene's situation, and sign our petition. In the process, I have heard countless stories of how Darlene is such a bright spot in so many peoples lives.
