My mother, Darla Baker, has been in the ICU since February 28. She has been intubated and sedated and is reliant on life support. My dad, Nate, has not gone to work and has stayed by my mom's side as she fights for her life. My mom took off from work two days before being admitted to the hospital because she was feeling ill. We don't know how long she will be in the ICU, and the doctors at this point have said she has about a 50% survival rate. Because my father has been by her side and my mom is sick, they currently have no income. The last thing I would want is my dad to worry about his bills, food, taking care of my younger brother, and their dogs. I want my dad to be by my mom's side and not worry about having to go back to work. My parents will also be in deep medical debt because of this, as ICU hospital care is very, very expensive. This whole experience has been very difficult on our family and those who love my mom, and we appreciate all the words of encouragement, love, and support. My parents do not like asking for help, no matter the situation, but when my mom gets better, I want them to be able to spend time together without having to worry about going to work.
