My name is Megan Schaeffer, and I am a long-time member of the cheer community (ICE ALLSTARS).

Today I’m reaching out on behalf of one of our own, Daniel Morales (Featured above with his mama), a senior on ICE Lightning, who recently experienced an unimaginable loss.

On October 21, 2025, Daniel’s beloved mama, Janilu, passed away after a courageous two-year battle with lung cancer.

The Morales family is now facing medical bills and the unexpected financial responsibilities that come with laying a loved one to rest.

Daniel is the kind of athlete and young man who lifts up everyone around him. He’s a leader, a hard worker, a mentor to younger athletes in stunting classes, and a true ray of sunshine in and out of the gym. Daniel truly knows no stranger and is an amazing friend to everyone he comes across. As a senior, he has big dreams — to continue in the cheer community, hopefully cheering in college, and one day becoming a coach.

Janilu is survived by her loving husband, Guillermo, and their three children: Daniel, Carlos, and Tonny. Their family has been a cherished part of our ICE community, and now it’s our turn to rally around them in their time of need.

Our goal with this fundraiser is to help ease the financial strain of medical expenses and funeral costs so the family can focus on grieving, healing, and honoring Janilu’s life.
