Help Support Curtis Arima After His Studio Break-In

Donation protected
Our friend and colleague Curtis Arima suffered a recent break-in and theft at his private jewelry studio on April 18th, 2025. The extent of his loss is devastating. The perpetrators stole precious metal, gemstones, completed work, as well as work in progress. After stealing his belongings, they vandalized his studio by emptying a fire extinguisher on what was left behind.

Curtis has given so much to our community, bettering the lives of students, co-workers, friends, and family.

A dedicated educator and community-builder, Curtis has taught and worked at the California College of the Arts for over 20 years, mentoring countless young artists. He is generous with his knowledge and time, greeting everyone with a friendly, welcoming smile.

Curtis is a fierce advocate for sustainable practices, and has volunteered for the board of Ethical Metalsmiths, worked with the California College of the Arts studio team to build one of the most environmentally-friendly studios in the nation, and lectured nationally on DEI in jewelry/metal arts college curriculums.

As makers, jewelers, metalsmiths, and artists, we understand the challenges of building a career; the time, energy, and finances invested into our work and workspaces can take decades. Therefore, we are reaching out to ask for your support during this difficult time. Please contribute whatever you can to help him build back what was lost.
