Hi, my name is Jennifer, and I’ve created this GoFundMe page to support my family—Sadie and Craig Digout.
Sadie and my husband Joe are first cousins, and I’ve had the privilege of knowing both her and Craig for over 33 years. They're more than family—they're dear friends. Our children have grown up together and remain close to this day. Now, I feel called to give back to them in their time of need, just as they have given so much to others over the years.
We all know that life can change in an instant, and often, we’re not prepared for the impact.
About Craig
Craig has always been someone who gives back. Over the years, he’s volunteered countless hours coaching youth baseball and hockey, after-school programs, and organizing sports tournaments—including memorial events that mean so much to the community.
He’s a passionate advocate for youth sports, believing deeply in the friendships and life skills kids develop through team play. His commitment to the next generation has left a lasting impact on many young lives.
Craig’s Health Journey
Craig has worked hard his entire life. But over the past few years, his health has taken a serious downturn.
More than three years ago, he was diagnosed with kidney disease. Despite the diagnosis, Craig continued working for as long as he could—until it became physically impossible.
Today, Craig undergoes dialysis four times a week and faces additional serious health complications, including the need for in-home oxygen. These challenges have made it impossible for him to continue working, and his condition has placed a growing emotional and financial strain on his family.
Despite his years of employment, Craig doesn’t have private insurance or benefits from his former job. He now relies solely on Canada Disability, which simply isn’t enough to meet the demands of daily living—especially with rising medical and travel expenses.
For the past few years, Craig has traveled multiple times a week for dialysis—first to Sydney, then to Antigonish, and now four days a week to Strait Richmond Hospital. These travel days, the cost of medications, medical equipment, and basic living expenses have created overwhelming financial stress for Craig and Sadie.
How You Can Help
Craig is holding on to hope. He dreams of the day he can be placed on the transplant list and begin the journey toward healing.
In the meantime, I am asking for your support—whether it’s a financial contribution or simply sharing this page with others. Every little bit helps to ease the burden and allow Craig and Sadie to focus on what truly matters: his health and their family.
If you prefer to donate directly, feel free to contact me and I’ll be happy to help make arrangements.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, generosity, and support.
With gratitude,
Jennifer
