Hi, my name is Dana and I am from Melbourne, Australia.

When I heard the devastating news about the floods that have affected communities across Nepal, and with my trip to Nepal coming up in just a few weeks, I felt that I wanted to do something to help.

My sister and I will be travelling to Nepal in September to trek, and during our time there we’ll be supported by local guides, porters, teahouse owners and communities who make experiences like ours possible. After seeing the impact the floods have had on families and communities, it didn’t feel right to simply visit without trying to give something back.

Our connection to Nepal:

We do not personally know the individuals and families who will ultimately receive the funds. We are travelling to Nepal as visitors and will be trekking with Nepal Hiking Team, a locally based trekking company.

We reached out to Nepal Hiking Team after hearing about the floods to ask how we could best support affected communities while we are there. Their co-founder and managing director has offered to help us identify local families and individuals who have been genuinely affected by the floods and are most in need of assistance.

How the funds will be used

The money raised through this GoFundMe will be withdrawn by me and used to directly support people and families affected by the floods in Nepal.

Depending on what is most needed at the time, the funds may be provided as direct financial assistance or used to purchase essential supplies such as food, clean drinking water, clothing, hygiene products, household items and other necessities for affected families.

Once my sister and I arrive in Nepal, we will work closely with Nepal Hiking Team to identify individuals and families who have been directly affected by the floods and determine where our support will have the greatest impact.

Nepal Hiking Team will assist us in distributing financial assistance and/or purchasing and providing essential supplies based on the needs of those affected.

100% of the funds received by me from this fundraiser will go towards supporting flood-affected people and communities in Nepal.

We will also provide updates on the GoFundMe showing how the funds have been used and where the support has gone.
