Christian's Traumatic Brain Injury Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Austin Vollman, Christian Vollman’s brother. On October 8, 2023, my 26-year-old brother suffered a life-threatening skull fracture (traumatic brain injury) while leaving a wedding reception in Choudrant, Louisiana. He was airlifted from the scene to LSU Shreveport Trauma Center.
A neurosurgeon performed emergency brain surgery to save his life. He underwent a craniotomy for drainage of a large subdural hematoma (blood clot). Part of his skull above his left ear was removed to allow the brain to swell. Christian remains in the LSU Shreveport ICU for treatment of his traumatic brain injury (TMI).
My brother is a true fighter, and we have faith he will make a full recovery, but he has a long road ahead of him. The goal is to move him home to New Orleans to an inpatient rehabilitation facility for extensive physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, and future medical care.
Christian will need to return to LSU Shreveport in several months for the neurosurgeon, Dr. Wong, to take him back to surgery to place the piece of his skull when the brain swelling goes down.
I've set up this GoFundMe campaign to help cover Christian’s extensive medical bills, past and future surgeries, ongoing medical care, and future inpatient rehabilitation, which his physicians say could take at least one year considering his his injury.
We genuinely appreciate any support you can provide, whether it's a donation, sharing this campaign with your friends and family, or simply keeping Christian in your thoughts and prayers. Your kindness means the world to us, and we are deeply grateful for your help during this difficult time.
