Help Support Chris in His Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind souls,
My name is Blake and I have created this on behalf of my brother, Chris. He is a kind, generous, and loving man and is an amazing father to his nine-year-old son, Abel. He’s also been an amazing brother, and having lost both of our parents in the last few years we don’t have that type of natural support to lean into right now. As his sister, I will do everything I can to help, including this. He is well loved by many, and especially by Abel and me.
His life was turned upside down at the end of May when he was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in his colon. At this point, the prognosis is unclear, though we are maintaining a positive outlook based on statistics and his tenacity.
That being said, his journey forward is going to be long, hard, and exhausting. He is scheduled to have surgery on July 2nd to remove a significant section of his colon and hopefully all of the cancer. With such a major surgery, Chris will be unable to work for six weeks. Additionally, he has been out of work far more than usual due to pain and the other symptoms that have accompanied his diagnosis.
Through the diagnostic process he has accrued thousands of dollars in medical bills and the surgery itself was estimated to have an additional out-of-pocket cost of around $4500. The financial burden of the loss of income, medical bills, and the treatments to follow is overwhelming. As time goes by the struggle to keep up with basic bills and household needs will increase, let alone the cost of medication and his medical bills.
As a family, we are reaching out to you, our community, for support. Your donations will help cover his medical bills, including the medication costs, ongoing treatments, and the ability to provide for himself and his 9-year-old son, Abel. Your generosity will allow us to focus on what truly matters – his health and recovery.
If you can find it in your heart to donate, no amount is too small. Every dollar brings us closer to giving Chris the fighting chance he deserves. If you are unable to donate, we understand – your thoughts, prayers, and words of encouragement mean the world to us. Thank you for taking the time to read about his situation and offer support.
I will post updates over time as he recovers and, with the help, support, and kindness from others, comes out stronger on the other side.
If you would like to contribute outside of GoFundMe contact me for information to do so.
Update #1: Chris is out of surgery and recovering, we will know more but things seem stable so far!
