INTRO:
Hello, I'm Chris, and I am raising funds to help cover some housing expenses while I work on the Great American Novel... Graphic Novel, that is! It's titled, "New Frontiers". I've chosen to do this now because, frankly, options are slim, and the Storyteller in me keeps screaming, "Now's the time! Now's the time!"
The one-two punch of COVID and the wildfires that plague Northern California have created conditions that are too unstable to secure income enough to remain. You know things are bad when you're getting priced out of Chico, aye!
HERE'S THE PLAN:
The new destination is Durango, Colorado. The goal is to minimize and simplify my life so I may focus on producing, self-publishing, and self-distributing a finished graphic novel. By the time that happens, the pandemic should be a thing of the past, and I will have something else to add to my curriculum once I'm able to get back into the classroom and teach students.
The funds raised during this 21 day campaign will be used to secure the purchase of a trailer ($11,000-$12,000 minimun for a livable RV), and a spot at Durango RV Park ($550/month) for 4 to 6 months while I push through the first phase of creating this graphic novel from scratch. A spot is available starting November 4th, so I'm running the campaign until October 21st, which will give me time to secure a trailer and, if need be, have it moved to Durango. Of course, blowing the lid off of the $15,000 goal is totally acceptable! Anything above the goal amount will be well spent on ongoing costs such as more rent, food, bills, art supplies, and research materials. Simply stated, the more money I can raise, the more stable my situation will be, which will allow me to get more work done.
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
As I mentioned in the beginning, the project is called New Frontiers. It is a story that has been in development for 15 years, and is finally ready to be told. It is science-fiction at its best, as it takes current scientific advancements and events and extrapolates a possible future rife with all of the ethical questions and puzzles that confront us today in our quest for advancement.

The reason I've chosen this direction is because it is most self-determinate. The Comic Book and Graphic Novel are the only remaining media that an individual can produce and distribute independent of corporate and institutional control. It is also one of the only type of products studio and streaming service acquisition executives will pay attention to. All guideposts seem to lead me in this direction, so that's where I will go! But, only with your kind help and generosity!
