Cheri (Malnaa) Anderson, is facing a rare and aggressive cancer diagnosis — Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma (ARMS). What began as persistent sinus pain led to multiple rounds of antibiotics, steroid treatments, and eventually a CT scan that revealed a mass in her sinus cavity. After urgent consultations and a surgical biopsy in early June, pathology confirmed the presence of tumor cells. Further testing showed that the cancer had metastasized to lymph nodes and several bones in her shoulders and hips.

Cheri began her first round of inpatient chemotherapy on July 11 and is bravely moving forward with treatment to shrink the tumors and maintain her quality of life. While there is currently no cure for this form of cancer, Cheri and all of us who love her remain hopeful and determined. Her strength and spirit are inspiring.

Due to the immunosuppressive effects of chemo, Cheri is unable to continue her work at Grace Montessori — something that deeply saddens her, as she adores working with her kids and co-workers. This, along with the likely travel costs to Mayo Clinic and other out-of-pocket medical expenses, we are wanting to start this GoFundMe to help take the financial burden off her and her husband, Scott.
